February Mood Board + Inspiration

Happy February, friends!

Maybe it’s the hopeless romantic in me (growing up consuming too many 18th century novels and 1990s romcoms will do that to a girl), but February has always been one of my favorite months! The weather is ever so slightly warmer - in the city, at least - and the days are ever so slightly longer. It truly feels like the actual new beginning to the year.

In all honesty, January holds too much pressure for a fresh start. It’s so cold out, you’re feeling burnt out from the holidays, on and on. Asking for some life-changing momentum in the midst of all that just seems like a recipe for disaster! I’m not sure if it was subconsciously done, but I’ve started using the first month of the year as more of an opportunity to step back, rather than moving forward. This year, especially, for the first time in (maybe ever?) awhileee I took a few weeks off from creating new work. Instead, I kept my focus inward, on myself and my home, and started digging in to the question of how I see this next year panning out. I watched a lot of my favorite films, discovered some new authors - and poets! - , picked up a new hobby, and drank copious amounts of hot beverages. So now that I’m getting back into the swing of things, I thought I’d share with you all what’s been inspiring me lately!

Drink

I love mixing my own tea recipes! Here’s a great nourishing daily blend :

-1 part burdock root

-1 part chamomile flowers

-1 part nettle leaves

-1 part oatstraw

-1 part red clover blossoms ( I sometimes sub this with raspberry)

-1 cinnamon stick (optional)

* I boil water with an electric kettle, and have been loving this teapot/press I received for Christmas! Perfect for steeping looseleaf teas like this.

Make

Winter definitely will leave me feeling gloomy if I let it. Long nights spent indoors always make me stir crazy! At the beginning of the year, I picked up knitting as a new hobby, and I’m hooked! I started learning with the very easy kits by Wool and the Gang. They even have handy Youtube videos to keep from getting lost.
