Travel Diary :: Spring Ski Season in Jackson Hole

Hi friends!

And happy Spring! As of yesterday, my ski season has OFFICIALLY come to a close, making it my first year of skiing into May! As last year’s season came to an abrupt end, I knew I wanted this one to be extra special. With that in mind, we ended up on a month long spring ski road trip out west!

After my first visit to Jackson last year, I fell in love with the town and all its amazing natural surroundings (if you’re curious about skiing at Jackson Hole, make sure to check out last year’s post!) . There’s countless lodging options in the area, but my favorite remains Anvil Hotel. With rooms made up of modern and cozy touches, a lobby that moonlights as a general store and cafe, and Glorietta, an incredible Italian restaurant on property, it makes for the perfect home base.

Local transportation will pick you up in town and drop you off right in Teton Village, the heart of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. While social distancing practices are in place, once you get on the lifts and up the mountain, you’ll have plentyyyy of space on trails. The entire trip - especially at the ski resorts - felt safe. Most everyone we came across was respectful when it came to mask wearing and other COVID regulations.

If you’re visiting to enjoy less ski and more après ski (which we can all relate to every now and then, ha!), there’s so much to see and experience in the area. Last year we were able to visit the nearby Elk Refuge, this time around we had the chance to check out one of the local hot springs . There’s several in the area, and even snowmobile tours that will bring you to one! If you’re staying at Anvil, make sure to ask them about available tour opportunities during your trip. Grand Teton National Park is less than half an hour away, with some fun, easy snowshoe trails to hike on [Taggart Lake Trail is a favorite of mine!].

While Jackson had a mask mandate in place during our stay, the town still had plenty of open restaurants and bars to choose from. Every place we went also had takeaway options. As with every area we’ve traveled to in the past year, we made sure to double check hours and availability. Many places are currently operating on temporary schedules.

After a week of equal parts rest, relaxation, and adventure in Jackson Hole, I can say that my love for this little ski town has only grown. Anvil is currently running a Spring promotion on their site, with 20% off when you stay 4 or more nights. As the state continues to reopen, please be mindful and patient of this ever changing climate! And above all, have fun :)
