Travel Diary :: Exploring the Oregon Coast

Hi guys!

Hope this little bit of escapism finds you all well + healthy! One of the last places I was able to travel to before heading back east was the Oregon coast. This state has some of the most incredible stretches of coastline. I swear every time I visit, I find a new section that fills me with awe!

During my time on the coast, I stayed at the incredible Oregon Coast Modern , a unique treehouse-like home a quick five minute walk from Neahkahnie Beach. The three story abode features a sprawling master suite on the lower floor, two additional bedrooms on the second, and a living/dining/kitchen space on the third. The natural light that filtered through, and the balconies on every level really lent to the treehouse effect!

All modern amenities are provided, from laundry, wifi, tv (not to mention a very thoughtful basket of treats left out for all guests - ft. the perfect grab + go snacks to bring to the beach!). After a wonderful night’s sleep, I loved doing yoga up on the third floor - I couldn’t get enough of that bright outdoor light- followed by a cup of coffee enjoyed on the balcony. It made for the most tranquil morning routine! Although surrounded by other beach homes, the house truly felt removed from society. It was incredibly quiet (something that the New Yorker in me always appreciates), and made for the perfect escape to recharge my mental batteries.

The house is located a short drive from Oswald West State Park - home to some AMAZING coastal hiking trails and local surf destinations. Further up the coast is the famous Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park. No matter where you explore, you’re sure to find sweeping seaside views!

Highlights :

  • Where To Stay : Oregon Coast Modern

  • Where to Hike :  Neahkahnie Mountain, Short Sand Beach, Cape Falcon, Smugglers Cove

  • Be a Tourist : If you’re a cinema nerd like me, you can’t travel to this area without making a stop to Cannon Beach aka the location of The Goonies! The town is cute + kitschy. Also make sure to detour the nearby Ecola State Park for a breathtaking scenic view of the beach!

*given the current situation regarding COVID-19, most businesses + activities are currently closed to public. If you’re determined on getting out, make sure to travel responsibly over the next few weeks!
