My Favorite Getaways :: Après-Ski Lodging with Airbnb

Happy ski season, snow bunnies!

Believe it or not, winter is my FAVORITE season! With a family full of skiers, it’s easy to understand how I grew up with a deep appreciation for all the fun + beautiful aspects of the cold months. Plus, there’s nothing more inviting than a cozy cabin after a day on the slopes! I teamed up with Airbnb to share some of my favorite ski town stays across the country. Keep reading to find all things snuggly!

Mountain States

Lake Shore Loft, Montana

Located just minutes from the charming town of Whitefish (and only 10 minutes from the mountain), this cabin is the perfect home base come Winter! This cabin features 2 beds - suitable for 4 guests - an updated kitchen, toasty wood fire inside and fire pit out in the backyard! Enjoy morning coffee on the patio that looks out on the lake and an après-ski soak in the hot tub! On days off from the slopes, there a plenty of shopping and dining experiences in Whitefish. If you’re looking for more scenic beauty, Glacier National Park (one of my favorite National Parks!) is located just 45 minutes away! Most roads in the park are closed in winter, but there will still be access to the beautiful Lake McDonald.

Sheep Hill Chalet, South Dakota

This BEAUTIFUL, modern home in Lead is located a mere 10 minutes from Terry Peak Ski Resort. This may come as a surprise to my fellow east coast ski bums, but South Dakota boasts some amazing skiing! In fact, the summit of Terry Peak stands at 7,100 ft tall, making it the highest lift service between the Rockies and the Alps. And since no day on the slopes would be complete without a cozy place to come home to, Sheep Hill Chalet provides perfectly secluded + spacious lodging for up to 8 guests. The modern design and open floor plan of the living space create a bright setting to snuggle up and watch the snow fall. The cabin has 3 bedrooms, a loft, fireplace, and hot tub. If skiing isn’t on the itinerary, the nearby historic town of Deadwood can provide more than enough entertainment!

The Vermont A Frame , Vermont

Nestled in a little A Frame community outside of Manchester Center, this cozy cabin is a short 25 minute drive to Stratton Mountain Resort. Sleeping up to 6 guests, (two beds and a pull out sofa - the large lofted master bedroom upstairs is incredible!). The wood burning stove in the living room keeps things nice and toasty on chilly nights, and if you’re too tired to cook after a long day chasing powder, you’ll find plenty of dining options in town! Manchester also have great shopping outlets - perfect for your rest days! Back at the cabin, you’ll find a variety of board and card games, a mini library, and TV with streaming capabilities to keep you busy.

KA-BIN, Vermont

One of my favorite cabins, located just outside Woodstock and a scenic 30 minute drive to Killington and Pico Mountains. This rustic beauty is a modern take on that Lincoln log home you built as a kid, with a full dining space, kitchen, cozy living room - with TV and fireplace, and two bedrooms upstairs. There’s also a master suite downstairs, but I prefer the charm of the loft rooms! The property boasts a fire pit, pond, and patio space. Make sure to carve out a day to enjoy nearby Woodstock! Grab coffee at Mon Vert Cafe, stock up on cozy layers at the Vermont Flannel Co., and head to Woodstock Farmer’s Market to grab a bottle of Pure Vermont maple syrup to bring home! The cabin has five beds and can host up to 6 guests.
